Reaching more than 6 million cable subscribers per airing, this year-long series of lively vignettes will honor the true celebrities of the outdoor world --the gear!
Hooked on the Outdoors (www.ruhooked.com), the Original Outdoor Travel & Gear Magazine expanded their brand franchise to television this month, as it began airing a yearlong series of "Hooked on the Outdoors Gear Minutes" on the RSN Television Network.
Designed to inform, entertain and encourage people to explore the outdoor world that begins at the edge of their backyard, each Hooked on the Outdoors Gear Minute profiles a selection of unique outdoor equipment or clothing.
Co-hosted by recording artist and television personality Greta Gaines and Hooked on the Outdoors Gear Editor Ben Hewitt, the segments were filmed at RSN Television studios in Portland, Maine.
"We've designed our television spots to honor the true celebrities of the outdoor world: the gear," said Tim McManus, Hooked on the Outdoors executive producer. "Since it's both colorful and compelling, we're delighted to be giving outdoor gear the recognition it deserves."
Each Hooked on the Outdoors Gear Minute will be distributed to approximately 6 million cable subscribers.
The Hooked on the Outdoors Gear Minutes will be distributed through RSN Television, a network that specializes in information and entertainment for outdoor enthusiasts. The Gear Minutes will be seen on RSN affiliates in more than 100 resort communities, as well as during RSN Outdoor Updates which appear on the CNN Headline News channel in New England, the Colorado front range, and Chicago. RSN Outdoor Updates appear 24 times a day at :54 past the hour.
The Hooked on the Outdoors Gear Minutes begin airing this month, and will run year round. The dates and product themes for upcoming Gear Minutes include:
June 28-29: Hiking

July 26-27: Car Camping
Aug. 9-10: Outdoor gadgets
Aug. 23-24: Outdoor clothing
Sept. 6-7 Trail Running

Gaines is a Nashville recording artist and former World Extreme Snowboarding Champion. Her list of on-air work includes the Oxygen television network, MTV, and RSN "Reel Thrills." Hewitt is the Gear Editor for Hooked on the Outdoors. His work has also appeared in Ski, National Geographic, and other publications.
