Joe Daniels – Custom Home Builder/Team Captain
I've been hooked on the outdoors since I was a kid. I grew up constantly looking for new adventures on bikes, motorcycles, skis--anything that got me moving in the great outdoors. Adventure Racing was the perfect fit for my adult body and kid desires. My interest in adventure racing first piqued in 1996 when a friend at Salomon turned me onto the Eco-Challenge. Thus inspired, I took my first plunge into adventure racing when the Hi-Tec Challenge came to Atlanta. It was the perfect combination: outdoors activities, multiple disciplines, the opportunity to go fast and I could drag a couple of friends along with me. I was hooked.
When I'm not playing with the team, I can be found bumming on the lake with my wife Amy, our three daughters Palmer, Bryce, and Macy and our dogs Jack & Ruby. Although they never get to race with me, their support makes them members of the team as much anyone.

Shannon Greenhill- Massage Therapist/Team Racer
I have grown up in the outdoors. My parents have always instilled the value of enjoying athleticism and respect for the world around me. More than anything, they have supported me in any endeavor that I have chosen to conquer. After an Outward Bound Course when I was 15, I knew that my life would never be the same. I seemed to feel more comfortable out in the elements than anywhere else. This is how I would choose to live my life. As long as I was physically able, I vowed to challenge myself--climbing, mountaineering, cycling, trekking, wherever my body would take me. After several years of professional cycling, I felt too one-dimensional and needed to allow myself to indulge and enjoy all of my interests. So, here I am.
In 2001, after a full year of competitive racing at the international level last year, I became hooked on adventure racing.

Matt Schaltenbrand – Business Owner / Racer
As a kid, I was involved in sports, mostly soccer, and always had a love for the outdoors. Hiking and camping became passions and I especially enjoying outings in the rain. Later, around the age of 17, I took up mountain biking and was racing regularly by the age of 19. While the excitement of bike racing, I always missed those great epic outdoor adventures in the woods. One day, as I was working on a house, a friend of a friend called and said he was trying to put together a 4 person team to compete in a 24 hour long race in the mountains. The race consisted of hiking, running, mountain biking, and paddling. Better yet it was all off-trail, meaning we’d have to do our own navigating. I was so excited! At that moment I was hooked on the idea.
I had seen this adventure racing on TV before but had no idea how to get involved in it. Although we never pulled it together for that race, the wheels were in motion. I was going to race. I called the older brother of an old girlfriend whom I heard had done a race like this before and one year later (with lots of help from race mentors and friends) I was off to my first race, the 2-day Odyssey E-Fix. It was a blast and many more races followed.
I love to compete. I love the outdoors and remote places, even sleep deprivation, and all the ups and downs. Mostly, I race for the friendships, the experiences, and the feeling that fills your soul in a great race. Sometimes it seems you live an entire lifetime in a single race.
